The Terribly Stupid Administration

You’ll be happy to know that criminals, including potential terrorists, have been working behind the scenes at London Heathrow with direct access to your bags and the planes. Now I could rail the Brits about the fact that they hired these people, but let’s face it, people will always slip through - not that this is acceptable mind you, because it is atrocious.

What this really highlights is exactly how pointless our own Transportation Security Administration is. If you can’t guarantee that terrorists won’t get behind the scenes in Britain, then how can you be sure they won’t get behind the scenes anywhere else with far less accountability and way more lax standards, like in any third world hell-hole? Answer – you can’t.

Airlines are vulnerable any number of places because of things like this. Other countries’ airports are not US property, so the TSA can’t patrol the whole thing or mandate any kind of screening for employees. This means that there will always be ways to breach security, whether through the mistakes of other authorities like in Britain, or through legitimate gaps where security isn’t provided.

The answer isn’t to give the TSA any more money. How many attacks have these clowns stopped by confiscating your shampoo, randomly stopping your grandmother for extra screening, and making you take off your shoes? None. This is pointless.

The way to catch these terrorist idiots is the same way we have been consistently catching them since 9/11 – you aggressively pursue them and infiltrate their operations. You also get people to report suspicious activity. And when some moron like Richard Reid makes it aboard the plane, you rely on a good old American ass whipping to bring the situation under control.

We gave the TSA $6.4 billion last year, and what did you get? Ridiculous delays that stopped absolutely nothing. Serious invasions of your privacy. We even get 200 thieves stealing things from people’s bags – including one hero who stole a 12 year-old’s birthday money. Now I know not everyone who works for the TSA is corrupt or incompetent, and we have a use for those people. Put them in the FBI or one of the other agencies that actively hunts the terrorists rather than sitting on their faces until the last plot is revealed and deciding it’s time to examine your nipple rings.
