With Rodriguez, Chicago O’Hare Gets Priorities Straight

The newly appointed aviation commissioner of Chicago O’Hare International Airport, Richard Rodriguez, is hell bent on fixing … the concession stands.

Yes, where you get your food and drink.

At his city council confirmation hearing, Rodriguez said he thinks Chicago can do better.

We’re known for great jazz and great blues. We’re known for sports and … great food. How do you make the Chicago airport system reflective of that? How often do entertainers have an opportunity to come and play? … I’m sure we can develop a plan to try and give our traveling public … more of what Chicago has to offer.

It’s not just about the food and the music. Rodriguez will also be making sure that “minorities receive a bigger piece of the O’Hare concession, construction and employment pie,” according to the Sun-Times.

If not, Freddrenna Lyle (Alderman, 6th Ward) will come after him.

One of our biggest concerns is making sure that, when we walk through the airport, we see people of color working in every station. … We want a diverse, representative work force.

No push back from the new aviation commissioner of Chicago O’Hare, who is

completely committed to ensuring that everyone has a fair opportunity - at not just concessions but all contracting opportunities throughout the Chicago airport system.

Well done, Rodriguez. Adding local food and live music. Making sure that enough black and Hispanic people get jobs.

Definitely worth your $165,612 salary.

It’s not as if Chicago O’Hare International Airport is experiencing security breaches and rodent infestations, or has the world’s most cancellations.

This blog is written by idiots. Live in VA, work in DC? That sucks huh? NOT! I too live in VA and work in DC. My commute takes 20-25 min. max, any time. That’s because as you might have guessed I live in Arlington. That’s because I don’t give a crap about having a huge house and because I’m not scarred to live in a city. I laugh at you sitting in traffic 2 hours every day. Stupid!
