Intellectually Dishonest Use of 1922 Park Avenue Photo Continues

Last month, Derk exposed the anti-car movement’s intellectually dishonest use of the now-famous 1922 Park Avenue photograph.
At first glance, the photo appears to depict a car-free Park Avenue (formerly 4th Avenue), i.e. a peaceful utopia free of the internal combustion engine and its dirty, noisy, dangerous externalities. Park Avenue used to be … just a park! But a closer inspection of the photograph shows roads on either side of the park. On those roads are automobiles.
But the chicanery continues. Here’s a recent example of how this photograph has been misappropriated, courtesy of Transportation Alternatives:
Notice how Transportation Alternatives’ version of the 1922 photograph has been conveniently sized down and cropped in a way that doesn’t allow you to see the true nature of 1922’s Park Avenue:
It’s actually quite clever how this works.
But Judd, you’re being unfair! You’re putting words into Transportation Alternatives’ mouth! They weren’t trying to mislead people into thinking there weren’t any cars on Park Avenue in 1922! You’re reading into this picture too much!
Yeah freaking right.

I love how they crop the most recent picture to make it look there is absolutely no more park left. That must be why we need to return it to the pedestrians.
What a joke. I need to find those traffic counts and silence this nonsense.
wow that’s not cool how they used that photo! when i first saw this pic it made me think that their were no cars on park ave in 1922. even if they dont come right out and say it you think there’s no cars, especailly when you compare it to the 1996 pic. but then you look at the closeup and theirs cars everywhere! it seems really deceiving.
